Healthcare can be complicated.

I can help.

You have questions, you want answers. The healthcare team sometimes sounds as if they are speaking a foreign language. Having been a nurse in healthcare for over 45 years, I speak the language. I advocate for you to get the answers you’re looking for. My expertise in clinical nursing includes ICU, ER, nursing education, and holistic therapies. Working with you, your doctor, and the medical team I make sure you are listened to and receive appropriate care.

Other services I provide are Medical Cannabis care with an emphasis on education and drug interactions. People today are not well-versed in the current use of medical cannabis. Being a certified cannabis nurse, I am equipped to educate and guide you on the proper use of this plant. I will also assess if you might benefit from other holistic modalities such as nutrition, massage therapy, hypnosis, and energy medicine.

Advocacy Services

Being sick causes stress that contributes to unclear thinking and decision-making when you need it most. I believe that everyone needs someone to advocate for them during times of illness. I advocate for you and will be with you and your family during this difficult time. I will explain what the physician is telling you. I will be present to protect your healthcare rights and safety. I understand healthcare, I speak the language and I know the system very well. Some of the areas you can expect me to advocate for you:

  • Speak with your doctors and healthcare team. I will ask the appropriate questions most people do not know to ask.
  • Educate you on what is happening with your condition/diagnosis and what other therapeutic options might be helpful to you. Ensure that all necessary tests are ordered and not unnecessarily repeated creating more cost.
  • Attend doctor’s appointments with you to make sure communication between all your doctors is taking place.
  • Evaluate your medications and supplements for safety, interactions and any side effects.
  • Analyze ALL your medical records and research all treatment options to create a chronological order of your health history.
  • Most importantly, I will spend time with you to meet your healthcare needs.

Medical Cannabis Care

Melyda Ruckels Cannabis Medical Care

Medical Cannabis use has been increasing in the last few years. The stigma of the “hippies and potheads” stereotype is wearing off. More and more states are legalizing cannabis use. Soon, cannabis will be federally approved. Until then, many people are seeking help from this plant to deal with anxiety, chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, insomnia, PTSD, chemotherapy side effects nausea and vomiting and many more symptoms. Further studies have found that cannabis is effective in relieving some of the symptoms of HIV/AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, and multiple sclerosis (NCSL 2021).  As a certified cannabis nurse, I am equipped to assist you with your questions and use of cannabis for medical purposes.

States with medical marijuana laws generally have some form of patient registry, which may provide some protection against arrest for possession up to a certain amount of marijuana for personal medicinal use. I am able to assist you with this registration process and point you in the right direction to enroll in a medical marijuana program (MMP). Medical marijuana growers or dispensaries are often called “caregivers” and may be allowed a certain number of plants or products per patient. This issue may also be regulated on a local level, in addition to any state regulation.
